Treaty 2 Territory-Preparations are underway for next weekend’s Treaty 2 Celebration of Nations event being held in Dauphin, Manitoba.
The event has returned to Dauphin after the West Region Tribal Council ran it for thirty plus years.
We have a great weekend of events planned for all of our Nations to attend.
“This is our inaugural year of the Celebration of Nations,” said Treaty 2 Grand Chief Eugene Eastman. “We’re very excited to build and develop our relationships, health and wellness within our First Nations communities and of course with our friends in Dauphin.”
“Sport brings our communities together and this event will build momentum as we move forward to a better, united future,” he added.
Fishing derby entries are being sold at Parkland Yamaha, Sticky’s Bait and Tackle and the Treaty 2 offices and are available until 1am on March 16th.
We are holding a basketball and hockey tournament with entries still required in the men’s recreational division. The tournament will be held at Credit Union Place and the Rotary arena.
We are also holding a pool tournament to be held at the Ukrainian Selo Hall in single and team divisions set to get underway on the 15th.
Co-ed Volleyball tournament at Mackenzie middle school beginning Saturday with $3000 up for grabs.
We are still in need of volunteers for the event for various positions including security, scorekeepers and officials.
A talent show is scheduled for Saturday at noon at the Aspen Lounge Lions Den at Credit Union Place will feature moose calling, jigging and a singing competition and is open to youth, junior and adult age groups.
The craft and trade show still has openings and can include businesses and/or non-profit organizations.
The Celebration of Nations Award Show Gala will kick off the event on March 14th and are available by calling the Treaty 2 offices at 204-638-3797.
Featured entertainment includes the SKO Square dancers, The Mosquito band and Darin Anderson.
The Show will recognize our founding governing councils.
