Treaty No. 2 was an agreement established in August 1871 at Manitoba House, with Representatives of the Queen of England. This document acknowledges, and enshrines all the authority of Anishinaabe Jurisdiction, Sovereignty and Nationhood. Anishinaabe Anishinaabe Agowidiiwinan - Treaty 2, Ahkeh, includes other Anishinaabe, whose Reserves are within the boundaries of Anishinaabe Agowidiiwinan - Treaty 2, will be eligible to be part of Anishinaabe Agowidiiwinan. It is upon this foundation, that we place our Governance Structure, and is the basis of our Authority, our Jurisdiction, and our Onankonehkawin.

Our Onankonehkawin is the basis, of implementing of our inherent and Akowigun rights, which extends, to all members of the Anishinaabek regardless of their Residency.

The extent of our Territory is, rooted in the sacred gifts from our Creator, our Elders’ teachings, our knowledge, our inherent rights, and our Birthright.

Our inherent right to self-determination includes, but not limited to:
The right to govern ourselves and to determine our own destiny; including, the right to develop and amend our Onankonehkawin, our Onankonehkawin and Governance procedures, based upon the decisions of our Anishinaabe;

The right to establish and maintain our own forms of Governance, in order to provide for the health and prosperity of Anishinaabek.
