Treaty 2 Territory – The Government of First Nation Treaty 2 Territory would like to announce the following position;

Job Title:                              Structural Readiness Facilitator

Proposed Start Date:        August 19, 2019 to March 31, 2020

Location:                              Office within our Treaty 2 Territory

PURPOSE

The Structural Readiness Facilitator will work collaboratively with the Director of Life Long Learning and holds the responsibility to facilitate the organizational development for the establishment of a territorial education system for the First Nations in Treaty 2 Territory (FNT2T) government.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY

  • Coordinates with the Director of Life Long Learning to create a detailed plan that will achieve of the objectives as identified in the FNT2T Life Long Learning work plan, including the Education Partnerships Program (EPP) deliverables by March 31, 2020;
  • Conducts environmental scanning exercises to identify potential partnerships and opportunities for shared development;
  • Creates and maintains a data base on educational services in the territory;
  • Organizes and facilitates engagement sessions with each member First Nation.
  • Reviews the Treaty 2 Education Act with member First Nation(s), receives recommendations for revision and adoption;
  • Drafts a local Nation Education Act for the review of the member Nations, receives recommendations for revision and adoption;
  • Develops and facilitates engagement and consultation meetings with education partners who are in Treaty 2 Territory and those outside of the territory who are either currently providing services or have services that are not currently being provided to the members Nations;
  • Develops a model for educational support services for the Nation members to enhance their local education programs on a territorial level;
  • Develops a model for land-based, cultural and language immersed regional school(s) for the Treaty 2 Territory;
  • Ensures the work plan, proposals(s), partnerships are professional and represent FNT2T in good standing;
  • Travel as required;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned;

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Master of Education degree preferred, however, a Bachelor of Education degree with work experience that demonstrates the ability to develop organizational concepts and has ability carry out independent research;
  • Knowledge of current local, regional, national educational political structures;
  • Knowledgeable of existing educational support agents, services and programs;
  • Exceptional organizational and time‐management skills with the ability to meet multiple tasks and strict deadlines;
  • Familiarity with curriculum and education programs;
  • Experience working with First Nations in the field of education;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work as a team player to effectively interact with elected officials, staff, media, service providers, and government agencies;
  • Proven exceptional verbal and written communication skills;
  • Knowledge of Anishinaabe language and understanding of culture and tradition is an asset;
  • Self‐motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision in a demanding and fast‐paced work environment;
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and own a vehicle;
